AEW Heels Community Crisis

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about what wrestling means to me.

I talked about the incredible community I found through AEW Heels — a place where I met amazing people, found friendships, and felt like I belonged in a space that was created for fans like me.

What I didn’t talk about was that this community is now in jeopardy.

When Aubrey and Amanda stepped away, two people who helped make Heels feel like the special place it was, things changed. Right now, the community feels like an afterthought. The communication we’re receiving doesn’t feel like real updates — it feels like corporate statements and excuses instead of meaningful conversations with the people who have invested their time, money, and hearts into this space.

We are paying for a community, and many of us feel like we’re not receiving one.

Some members decided to take matters into their own hands and start a revolution. At first, I supported them. I understood the frustration. I wanted change too.

But over time, I realized that some of the loudest voices leading that movement weren’t representing the community I fell in love with. A true community listens. It makes room for different opinions. It doesn’t become “my way or nothing.”

Somewhere along the way, people stopped listening to each other.

So I made a decision. I deleted the app from my phone (not that it worked particularly well on Android anyway — another frustration in a long list of them), and when my membership comes due, I won’t be renewing.

But here’s the thing…

I’m not leaving the people.

I will still be part of the WI Heels group. The group that started as a simple meetup chat and organically grew into something bigger. The group that became the kind of community Heels was supposed to be.

Because at the end of the day, the magic was never the app. It was never the corporate side of things.

It was the people.

And those friendships are worth holding onto. ❤️
