Well… That Was a Week
There are some weeks when Sunday rolls around and I have to actually stop and think about what I did all week.
This is definitely not one of those weeks. ๐
This week had a little bit of everything. There was writing. There was editing. There was a pretty major change happening at home. My to-do list somehow got even longer than it already was. And then we ended the whole thing with wrestling.
So much wrestling.
The biggest unexpected change was deciding that we’re going back to homeschooling for my freshman. I already wrote an entire blog about that decision, so I’m not going to repeat all of it here. The short version is that it was the right decision for my kid, which meant I suddenly had to figure out how the hell we were actually going to do it.
A good chunk of my week disappeared into creating lesson plans for English 9, Algebra 1, Health, Biology, and World History, organizing a month of assignments, and building a gradebook because apparently that’s my life now.
And yes, I’m still most concerned about Biology. ๐
With all of that going on, I honestly wouldn’t have been surprised if Unraveled Prophecies hadn’t gotten touched at all.
Except somehow, it did.
I wrote two new chapters and edited six chapters.
I’m actually really freaking happy about that.
I’ve been making some serious progress on this book lately, and I’m trying really hard not to get caught in that trap where every week has to somehow beat the week before it. I edited ten chapters one week. That doesn’t mean editing six the next week isn’t enoughโespecially when I also wrote two brand-new chapters and unexpectedly spent a good chunk of the week creating an entire freshman homeschool plan.
Progress is progress, and Unraveled Prophecies is still moving forward.
Then Saturday came.
ALL OUT. ๐คผโโ๏ธ๐ฅ
I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. One of my kids and I loaded up the car and headed to Hoffman Estates for the preparty and then AEW All Out.
And this time, we got to watch the show from a suite with an absolutely amazing group of women and their guests.
I could absolutely get used to watching wrestling from a suite. ๐
We’ve done the crowds. We’ve done the packed seats and the lines and trying to leave an arena at the exact same time as thousands of other people. This was definitely a different experience, and it was pretty damn awesome.
But I think one of my favorite parts was just getting to do it with my kid again.
His first AEW show was actually All Out in 2021. Back then, we spent the entire show wearing masks because… 2021. ๐
Five years later, we were back at All Out together.
Except now he’s almost an adult.
I’m still not entirely sure when the hell that happened.
There’s something weird about having older kids. When they’re little, they don’t really have a choice about hanging out with you. ๐ You’re their ride. You’re their money. You’re responsible for keeping them alive.
Then they get older. They have friends and jobs and their own plans and lives that don’t revolve around you anymore.
And somehow this kid still wants to go to wrestling shows with his mom.
I’ll take that for as long as I can get it.
And you know what? I actually didn’t take that many pictures Saturday.
Normally there’s this instinct to pull out the phone and capture everything, especially when you know you have social media and content and all of that waiting for you later.
But I didn’t.
I was too busy actually being there.
I watched the show. I yelled. I laughed. I talked with the people around me. I watched wrestling with my kid.
I lived in the moment instead of watching it through my phone.
And I’m really glad I did.
I do have some pictures. They’ll eventually make their way onto social media because there are definitely a few I want to share.
Eventually. ๐
But I don’t have hundreds of clips to turn into the perfect Reel, and I’m okay with that.
Especially because my head really hasn’t been in content creation lately. Sometimes I love coming up with posts and graphics and videos and figuring out new ways to talk about my books.
And sometimes I just don’t.
Right now, I’d rather put that energy into writing. Or reading. Or figuring out our new homeschool routine. Or going somewhere with my kid and actually enjoying it without thinking about whether I got enough footage to turn the experience into content later.
Social media will still be there.
And when I look back at this week, I’m definitely not going to remember whether I posted enough.
I’m going to remember that despite everything changing at home, I still managed to write two chapters and edit six.
I’m going to remember sitting in that suite with an amazing group of people and watching All Out.
I’m going to remember looking over at this kid who went to his first All Out with me five years ago and realizing that he’s almost grownโand he still thinks spending the day watching wrestling with Mom sounds like a pretty good time.
And I’m probably going to remember wondering why the hell I thought I was qualified to teach Biology. ๐
So yeah.
That was my week.
Two chapters written. Six chapters edited. A whole new homeschool routine in the works. One pretty damn amazing day at All Out.
And not nearly enough pictures to prove any of it.
I think I’m okay with that. ๐ค
